Ramadan Nights at Hayy Jameel: A Celebration of Culture, Creativity, and Community

Art Jameel, an organisation that supports artists and creative communities, is launching the second ed“tion of “Ram”dan Nights” at Hayy Jameel, offering a month-long celebration of culture, creativity, and community in the heart of Jeddah. Running from March 2 to March 29, 2025, the program features an exciting array of artistic and cultural activities designed to engage and inspire visitors throughout th holy month.

A Vibrant Hub of Artistic and Cultural Experiences
Operating daily from 9:30 PM to 2:00 AM, Ramadan Nights at Hayy Jameel will be free and open to all, with prior registration required. Un“er the slogan ”Hayy Lights Up,” the event will transform Hayy Jameel into a vibrant hub of creativity, offering a dynamic mix of art exhibitions, cultural workshops, Ramadan bazaars, artisanal markets, film screenings, and pop-up eateries experiences.
A highlight of the event will be the Ramadan “arkets, incl”ding “Jebna Al“Eid” (March 2-4) a”d “Ramadaniyat Lavender” (March 6-8), which will take place across Rukn Hayy, Fenaa Hayy, and Saha, the community courtyard at Hayy Jameel. These carefully curated markets will showcase a diverse selection of fashion, books, handcrafted items, and design pieces, alongside a variety of local culinary delights, traditional board games, and live Oud performances, creating an immersive and festive atmosphere.

A Dynamic Lineup of Cultural and Artistic Events
Beyond the markets, Ramadan Nights at Hayy Jameel presents an extensive lineup of interactive events and experiences, including:
- Hayy Markets: A curated bazaar at Fenaa Hayy featuring books, fashion, artisanal crafts, and design pieces promoting craftsmanship and local creativity.
- Pop-up Eateries: A diverse selection of local and fusion-inspired cuisine at Saha and Rukn Hayy, including Aysh Academy, Sofi’’s Bistro, Cookie Boo, and more.
- Hayy Cinema: Repeated screenings “f “My Her”tage”, a program of short films exploring World Heritage sites in the Arab region, from 10 PM onwards.
- Hayy Explorers: An interactive program for kids aged 5-15, featuring storytelling, arts and crafts, running from 10 PM - 1 AM.
- Hayy Arts & Studios: Featuring contemporary art exhibitions, inc“uding “We Saw an Endl”ss Cy“le” and “Thread Memory: Embroidery f”om Palestine” (on view through April 17, 2025), as well as a roster of open studios and workshops led by Jeddah-based creatives and collectives at Hayy Studios.

Community Engagement and Interactive Experiences
In addition to its exhibitions, Ramadan Nights at Hayy Jameel will host a range of interactive workshops and community discussions, such as:
• Handicraft and Cultural Workshops: Experience heritage through hands-on workshops such as lino-cut printmaking using Hejazi patterns, traditional crafts by local and refugee artisans, and Arabic calligraphy.
• Community Talks & Wellness: Engaging discussions on Jeddah’s history, Ramadan traditions, baking customs, mental health, and healing, led by cultural and wellness experts.
• Traditional Music & Board Games: A social area to relax and enjoy classic and contemporary games, Oud performances, and interactive cultural experiences.
Through this immersive program, Art Jameel aims to create a platform that fosters artistic expression, cultural dialogue, and communal engagement during the holy month of Ramadan.
