Egypt Stresses Inclusive Political Process Importance In Syria


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, March 3 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign and immigration Minister Dr. Bader Abdulaty stressed the necessity of adopting an inclusive political process in Syria that includes all people.
In a statement on Monday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry revealed that this came during a meeting held by Minister Abdulaty with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, during which they exchanged views on the most prominent regional issues.
During the meeting, Abdulaty stressed Egypt's position in support of Syria and respect for its sovereignty, unity and safety, stressing the need to combat terrorism and extremism and for Syria to be a source of stability in the region.
Abdulaty reviewed the steps to prepare for the Arab Summit hosted by Cairo on March 4 regarding the situation in Gaza, and Egypt's efforts to sustain the ceasefire agreement there along with the plan to reach a permanent political solution to the Palestinian issue.
Regarding bilateral relations, the Egyptian Foreign Minister affirmed his country's position in support of Iraq's security and stability, praising the remarkable development witnessed by Egyptian-Iraqi relations over the past years. (end)
