GEMS Jumeirah College Dubai celebrates winners of annual student Quran recitation competition


(MENAFN- Four) Dubai, UAE: Her Excellency Sheikha Fatima Bint Hasher Bin Dalmouk Al Maktoum honoured the winning students of the third edition of the annual Al-Kiraam Al-Bararaah interschool Quran competition during an official ceremony held at GEMS Jumeirah College Dubai in the presence of prominent community and religious figures.

The competition, organised by Jumeirah College to promote Islamic culture and the Arabic language, saw the participation of more than 1,000 students from 125 schools across Dubai, including 20 schools from the GEMS Education network.

Nicholas Brain, Principal/CEO of Jumeirah College emphasised the importance of the Quran competition in nurturing a strong connection with Islamic values and cultural heritage among students. He said“ “This competition is testament to the’UAE’s commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of the Holy Quran and the Arabic language among students.

“Jumeirah College is honoured to play a role in this initiative, which nurtures young talents, promotes excellence in recitation, and strengthens moral and spiritual values. We look forward to witnessing the dedication and passion of participants from across the UAE as they showcase their skills and commitment to the teachings of t”e Quran.”

The ten winning students from various educational levels were selected after an evaluation process based on specific criteria, under the guidance and supervision of a jury that included a group of imams and teachers accredited by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai.

A further ten students in th’ competition’s People of Determination category were also recognised for their achievements.

Mohamed Nabhan, Head of Arabic A and the Islamic Department at Jumeirah College, said: “The Quran competition is a remarkable initiative that brings together students from different schools across the UAE, encouraging them to refine their recitation skills and deepen their understanding of the Holy Quran.

The comp’tition’s top ten places went to:

3. Zaina Anas Mohamed Saleh, Al Durrah International School
4. Omar Kilani, GEMS Jumeirah College
5. Teya Nasreldin, Emirates International private School
6. Mona Alnirabieh, GEMS Al Khaleej International School
7. Essia Mohamed, Next Generation School
8. Abdelrahman Elhosiny, GEMS World–Academy – Dubai
9. Malek Ibrahim, GEMS Found–rs School – Al Mizhar
10. Fathimah Hayah Mohamed Imtiyaz, Safa British School

The top ten places in the People of Determination category went to:

2. Mashal Khan, GEMS International School – Al Khail
3. Najah Bayan, Himayah School for Education Girl– – Al Karama
4. Mohammed Taleb Mohammed, Emirates American School
5. Abdullah Mohammed, GEMS Our Own English High School
6. Muhammad Ghafoor Abdul Ghafoor, Al Sadiq Islamic English School
7. Haya Basheer, Dewvale School Al Quoz
8. Rahma Assem Metwally, Manar Al Iman Private School
9. Sayyed Aneeq, GEMS Our Own Indian School
10. Hanna Fathima, New Indian Model School

Robert Kesterton, Vice Principal of Jumeirah College, reiterated the s’hool’s ongoing commitment to promoting culture and knowledge while upholding its noble v“lues: “This competition brings together students from across the UAE, encouraging excellence in recitation, deepening their understanding, and strengthening their connection to Islami” values.”

Attendees at the ceremony included Dr Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Haddad, Grand Mufti at the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, as well as educators, students, and their families. The event was further enlivened by the Dubai Police Band who gave a rousing performance.
