Trump Discusses Call with Putin on Ending Russia-Ukraine War, Criticizes Biden's Handling

(MENAFN) US President Donald trump revealed that he had held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, focusing on efforts to bring an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, according to The New York Post.

In an interview with The Post on Friday, Trump refrained from specifying the number of times he and Putin had spoken but emphasized that Putin is eager to see an end to the conflict.

"He wants to see people stop dying," Trump remarked. "All those dead people. Young, young, beautiful people. They’re like your kids, two million of them – and for no reason."

Trump argued that the war, now in its third year, "never would have happened" had he been president in 2022. He compared his foreign policy approach with that of President Joe Biden, stating, "Biden was an embarrassment to our nation. A complete embarrassment."

The former president underscored the urgency of resolving the conflict and stated he has a clear plan to bring the war to an end. "I hope it’s fast. Every day people are dying. This war is so bad in Ukraine. I want to end this damn thing," Trump added.
