Kingdom's Reservoirs Gain 3 Million Cubic Meters From Rainfall

Amman, Feb. 6 (Petra) -- Recent rainfall and valley runoff have contributed approximately 3 million cubic meters of water to the kingdom's reservoirs over the past 24 hours, bringing total water storage across the country's 15 main dams to 74 million cubic meters, or 25.6% of their total capacity of 288.128 million cubic meters, according to the Ministry of Water and Irrigation - Jordan Valley Authority.
The ministry's statement on Thursday reported that the rainfall, which affected most regions of the kingdom, was highest in the capital, particularly in the "Baidar Wadi Al-Sir" area, where 79.8 mm of rain was recorded. The precipitation extended across all areas of the kingdom, excluding the Aqaba Governorate.
The rainfall has increased the overall seasonal precipitation to 22.9% of the annual average, a notable decrease from the 60.3% recorded during the same period last year.
The ministry highlighted the positive impact of the recent rainfall on the country's dams, with the highest inflow observed at the Mujib Dam, which received 1.6 million cubic meters, bringing its total storage to 12.588 million cubic meters, or 51% of its capacity. Meanwhile, the King Talal Dam received 631,000 cubic meters, increasing its total storage to 35.290 million cubic meters, or 52.6% of its capacity. The remaining water was distributed across various other reservoirs, excluding the Wala, Ibn Hamad, and Fidan dams.
