Netanyahu to Meet Trump Amid Escalating Violence and Ceasefire Uncertainty

(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to meet US President Donald trump on Tuesday, marking the first time a foreign leader will meet Trump. This visit comes as tensions continue to rise over the Gaza cease-fire and escalating violence in the West Bank.

While Netanyahu, who is charged of war crimes in Gaza by the International Criminal Court (ICC), and Trump have shared a close relationship, analysts claim that the dynamic between them may be changing.

A senior expert on Israel with the International Crisis, GroupM airav Zonszein, noted that Netanyahu’s Political standing has significantly weakened since time of his previous meeting with Trump.

Zonszein shared with Anadolu, “this is Trump’s second term, and this is Netanyahu coming in after having lost a lot of popularity within Israel and coming in as a weaker leader – somebody who promised to destroy Hamas, and now we see that he’s been kind of forced by Trump to enter a cease-fire deal without having achieved those war objectives.”
