Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed Across Pakistan And The World

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) ISLAMABAD : Pakistan, along with the global community, is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day today with fervor to express unwavering support for the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination. Seminars, rallies, and special programs are being organized nationwide and internationally to pay tribute to the Kashmiri struggle for freedom and to highlight the ongoing human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Special events across Pakistan will feature speakers recounting the sacrifices made in the Kashmiri freedom struggle and condemning the atrocities committed by the Indian armed forces in the occupied valley. A special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is also scheduled, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will address the attendees, reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to the Kashmiri cause.

5 February: A Day of Renewed Commitment to the Oppressed Kashmiris

Kashmir Solidarity Day, observed annually on February 5, serves as a solemn reminder of the ongoing plight of the Kashmiri people under Indian occupation. The region remains engulfed in violence and oppression, marked by mass graves, widespread sexual violence against women, and thousands of orphaned children, all bearing testimony to India's brutal regime.

India, often touted as the world's largest democracy, has deployed over one million illegal troops in the occupied valley. Hurriyat leaders have voiced their condemnation, stating, "India has crossed all limits of oppression." Despite the harsh measures, they assert their resilience, pledging to continue resisting Indian aggression with courage.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is not merely symbolic; it represents a pledge by the Pakistani people to stand by their Kashmiri brethren. Despite the inhumane atrocities committed by Indian forces, they have failed to suppress the Kashmiris' indomitable spirit for freedom. Pakistan remains steadfast in extending moral and diplomatic support to the oppressed Kashmiris on every international platform. The people of Pakistan and the armed forces continue to stand in solidarity with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters, offering unwavering support.

Prime Minister and Leaders Reaffirm Support for Kashmiris' Freedom Struggle

Acting President and Senate Chairman Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Speaker of the National Assembly, and other political leaders have reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for the Kashmiri people's struggle for self-determination in their messages on Kashmir Solidarity Day.

In a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, it was emphasized that Pakistan observes Kashmir Solidarity Day each year to renew its commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people's right to self-determination. This right is a fundamental principle of international law, consistently reinforced by the United Nations General Assembly through resolutions emphasizing peoples' legal right to determine their own destiny. Regrettably, the Kashmiri people have been deprived of this inalienable right for the past 78 years.

The illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) remains one of the world's most militarized regions, where Kashmiris live under a constant state of fear and oppression. Political activists and human rights defenders face prolonged detentions, and their properties are being confiscated. Political parties genuinely representing the aspirations of the Kashmiri people have been banned in efforts to stifle dissent.

India continues to implement illegal measures to solidify its occupation of Kashmir. Since the unilateral and illegal actions of August 5, 2019, India has sought to alter the demographic and political landscape of IIOJK, aiming to reduce Kashmiris to a powerless minority in their own homeland.

Recent developments in the Middle East highlight that prolonged conflicts should not be allowed to fester. Sustainable peace cannot be achieved by suppressing the legitimate aspirations of local populations. For lasting peace in South Asia, the international community must press India to allow the Kashmiri people to freely determine their future.

"I reaffirm that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains a cornerstone of our foreign policy. Pakistan will continue its unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiri people until they achieve their right to self-determination, by United Nations Security Council resolutions. On this occasion, I salute the courage and resilience of the brave Kashmiri people, who have made countless sacrifices in their struggle for their fundamental rights and freedoms," said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

In his statement from the Senate Secretariat, Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani expressed solidarity on Kashmir Solidarity Day, asserting that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people will not go in vain. "Pakistan will continue to support the Kashmiri people on every front. The international community must play its role in granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination. Human rights violations in occupied Kashmir are condemnable, and Kashmir is Pakistan's jugular vein. We will never abandon the Kashmiris, and the entire Pakistani nation stands with our Kashmiri brothers and sisters. Kashmir Solidarity Day is a day of commitment to the oppressed Kashmiri people."

Gillani further stated that the Kashmiri freedom struggle is a test of the world's conscience. "India's state terrorism and atrocities are condemnable. Pakistan stands with the Kashmiri people at diplomatic, moral, and political levels. Kashmir Solidarity Day is a story of determination, courage, and sacrifices. Until Kashmir is free, we will continue to raise the voice of the Kashmiri people on every forum. February 5 is a day to raise our voices for the oppressed Kashmiris, and the Kashmir issue must be resolved per UN resolutions."
