Shmyhal, EBRD President Discuss Strengthening Ukraine's Energy Resilience

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) During a meeting in Kyiv, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and President of the European bank for Reconstruction and Development Odile Renaud-Basso discussed strengthening Ukraine's energy resilience.

Shmyhal announced this on Telegram , Ukrinform reports.

“The EBRD is a reliable partner of Ukraine. Last year, the Bank increased its investments in Ukraine to EUR 2.4 billion. I would like to thank Odile Renaud-Basso and the Bank's team for this,” Shmyhal said.

The Prime Minister added that the EBRD cooperates with the public and private sectors. The focus of cooperation is energy, infrastructure, and reforms.

“We discussed strengthening Ukraine's energy resilience. We also discussed ways in which the EBRD can support projects in this area, including by strengthening cooperation with Ukrainian state-owned energy companies. We are preparing new joint projects,” Shmyhal emphasized.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude for the existing programs implemented by Ukraine in cooperation with the bank.

“We look forward to continuing our fruitful cooperation. Especially, in the field of transportation and infrastructure restoration. Our top priority here is the reconstruction of people's homes destroyed by the constant Russian shelling,” Shmyhal emphasized.

The development of lending programs in Ukraine was also among the topics discussed during the meeting.

Shmyhal thanked the EBRD for supporting important projects and initiatives that strengthen Ukraine's resilience in the war against the Russian aggressor.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development handed over 600 laptops to educators in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions as part of the Device Coalition.
