UNFI TEAMSTERS RATIFY NEW CONTRACT
Teamsters in Four States Approve Powerful Five-Year Agreement
WASHINGTON, Feb. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- More than 160 UNFI drivers across Arizona, California, Oregon, and Utah have overwhelmingly ratified a new five-year collective bargaining agreement. The new contract, negotiated by 12 Teamsters locals, secures major improvements in wages, pension contributions, health care, seniority protections, and holiday pay.
"This contract proves what's possible when workers stand together," said Conor Tobin, a business agent with Teamsters Local 150 who served as lead negotiator. "Through coordinated bargaining, we won the strongest possible agreement for our members at UNFI."
The Teamsters represent more than 5,000 UNFI workers nationwide, with over 2,500 joining the union since 2022.
"Our new contract raises the bar at UNFI and demonstrates why every worker at this company should organize with the Teamsters," said Arturo Lemus, a UNFI driver and member of Teamsters Local 848 in California. "The wages, benefits, and protections we won are game changers."
Meanwhile, newly organized UNFI workers at five Teamsters locals are fighting for their first contract. In the East and Midwest, Teamsters in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, and Pennsylvania are demanding the same industry-leading standards secured on the West Coast.
"We're bargaining from a position of strength," said Tom Erickson, Director of the Teamsters Warehouse Division. "UNFI must negotiate with our newly organized units in good faith - or we'll hold them accountable. The ball is in their court."
