Rubio states that Ukraine war ‘needs to end now’

(MENAFN) US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called for an immediate resolution to the ongoing Ukraine conflict, stressing the need for negotiations to end the devastation. In an interview with Sirius XM’s Megyn Kelly Show, Rubio echoed President Donald Trump’s position that the war must come to an end, with both sides compromising in talks.

Rubio pointed out that the conflict, which has caused Ukraine immense damage, is leading to a protracted stalemate, and warned that Ukraine is gradually losing more territory and resources. He criticized the notion that Ukraine could completely defeat Russia and return to pre-2014 borders, emphasizing the significant setbacks Ukraine is facing in terms of its energy grid and population displacement.

Trump, having recently taken office, has expressed readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a solution, a sentiment echoed by the Kremlin. Putin, however, suggested that the conflict could end if Western support for Ukraine, particularly financial and military aid, were to be cut off.
