Trump demands from Musk to ‘go get’ astronauts stuck in orbit

(MENAFN) US President Donald trump has called on SpaceX CEO Elon Musk to rescue two NASA astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, who have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) for over 190 days, far longer than their original eight-day mission. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump accused the Biden administration of leaving the astronauts in space and requested Musk's help to bring them home. Musk responded on Twitter, confirming SpaceX would carry out the mission, criticizing the prolonged delay under the current administration.

The astronauts had initially launched on the Boeing Starliner on June 5 but were forced to remain aboard the ISS after technical issues, including helium leaks and thruster problems, led NASA to postpone their return. Although plans for their return have been delayed multiple times, with additional crew missions rescheduled, Wilmore and Williams have stayed positive and professional about the situation. NASA has not yet responded to Trump's request, but it is working on plans for their return.
