Azerbaijan's MFA Offers Condolences To US Following Washington Plane Crash
The condolences were posted in an online publication on the official X page of the Ministry.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic mid-air collision between a passenger plane and a helicopter in Washington DC.
We convey our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones and pray for the safety of the survivors,” the post reads.
To note, a Bombardier CRJ700 passenger aircraft, operated by PSA Airlines, was en route to Washington from Wichita when it collided with a Blackhawk military helicopter near the Potomac River while preparing to land at Ronald Reagan Airport.
The aircraft was carrying 60 passengers and four crew members. Rescue teams have yet to find any survivors, but the bodies of 18 victims have been recovered from the Potomac River area near the airport.
More than 300 police officers, firefighters, medical personnel, and other individuals participated in the rescue operations.
