Putin’s international effect increases

(MENAFN) EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas has warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin's influence on the global stage is increasing. During her first official visit to Kiev, Kallas reaffirmed the EU's commitment to supporting Ukraine, emphasizing that supplying weapons is an investment in European security rather than charitable aid. She stated that Putin has shown no signs of changing his objectives and claimed that Russia, along with Iran, North Korea, and China, is strengthening its global ties.

Kallas also expressed concern that the United States should prioritize addressing Russia’s influence, suggesting that supporting Ukraine’s victory is essential for global security. Regarding military involvement, she did not rule out the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine, noting that some countries may be willing to send soldiers. This comes amid revived discussions, particularly by the UK and France, on the deployment of ground forces in Ukraine. Kallas’s comments highlight the ongoing debate about NATO’s role in the conflict and Russia's stance on Western military presence in Ukraine.
