Intense Clashes in Syria’s Hama results in death of over 50 army soldiers

(MENAFN) Syrian armed factions announced today that over 50 Syrian army soldiers were killed in intense battles that erupted last night in northern Hama. The factions also reported gaining control of Halfaya, Taybat al-Imam, and the town of Maardis in the northern Hama countryside. Despite these advances, violent confrontations continue in the region, reflecting the growing intensity of the conflict.

Meanwhile, at least six civilians lost their lives yesterday due to shelling by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and allied factions targeting the city of Hama. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, rocket fire hit the Al-Baath neighborhood in Hama city, marking the first time these areas have been targeted with rocket launchers. The attack resulted in injuries and fatalities, heightening fears of further civilian casualties as the clashes escalate.

This surge in violence comes amidst a large-scale offensive launched by HTS and its allies on Syrian army-held territories in northern Hama. Over the past few days, the armed factions have intensified their operations, capturing several key locations. The renewed hostilities signal a significant shift in the balance of power in the region as both sides engage in fierce battles.

On Monday, the factions announced control over seven areas in northern Hama’s countryside, with reports from their supporters on the "X" platform indicating further advances. These accounts suggest that the factions are nearing Qalaat al-Madiq and have seized multiple nearby villages, broadening the conflict’s scope and heightening tensions in the already volatile area.
