Ukraine To Participate In World Expo 2025 In Japan

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Hirofumi Yoshimura, the governor of Osaka Prefecture in Japan, announced on Tuesday that Ukraine will take part in the World expo 2025.

This is according to Kyodo News as reported by Ukrinform.

"Ukraine is currently in a very difficult situation, but its attendance is meaningful as it serves as an appeal for peace," Yoshimura told reporters during a visit to France.

Concerns have been raised over Ukraine's ability to allocate funds for the international event due to the financial burden of the ongoing war with Russia. However, Kyodo News, citing informed sources, reports that Ukraine believes that it can reduce the burden of exhibiting by using a building provided by the Japan Association for the International Exposition, rather than constructing its own facility.

A source in the Japanese government revealed that Ukraine is considering participating in the "Type C" pavilion, which will be built by the organizer and shared among participants, adding the nation is expected to complete its preparations in time for the opening in April next year.

The World Expo 2025 in Osaka will run for six months, from April 13 to October 13. Over 150 countries from around the globe, including the United States, China, and EU nations, are expected to present their pavilions.

The World Expo, often referred to as Expo, symbolizes industrial progress and serves as an open platform for showcasing technological advancements. The first Expo, known as the Great Exhibition of the Industry of All Nations, was held in London in 1851.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, in late November last year, it was announced that Russia will not participate in the World Expo 2025 in Osaka.
