Azerbaijan, Slovakia Work Out Renewables Cooperation


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 18. Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Environment of Slovakia Tomáš Taraba within the framework of COP29, Trend reports via Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy.

It was brought to light at the meeting that economic ties are really hitting their stride, and there's a wealth of opportunity on the horizon for broadening collaboration.

“The importance of continuing joint activities to strengthen economic ties, including the growth of trade turnover was emphasized. The sides discussed issues included in the agenda of the Joint Working Group on Azerbaijan-Slovakia Economic Cooperation.

The sides exchanged views on the expansion of partnership in the spheres of trade, investments, energy, and renewable energy sources, as well as the exchange of technologies and experience in the field of energy transition and green energy. It was noted that realization of cooperation potential promises broad prospects for the economic development of our countries,” the information said.

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) opened on November 11. COP29, which is being held at the Baku Olympic Stadium, will continue until November 22. This is the biggest show in town organized by Azerbaijan so far, and it's the first time the ball is rolling in this region with it taking place in Azerbaijan.

The key expectation from COP29 is to agree on a fair and ambitious New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) on climate finance.

A total of 14 initiatives have been put forward by the COP29 Chairmanship.
