BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 1. Azerbaijan
Railways' cargo service has transitioned to an enhanced operational
mode in preparation for COP29, head of Azerbaijan Railways'
passenger transportation department Azer Farajov said at a media
tour at Baku Railway Station, Trend reports.
He noted that regular monitoring is being conducted across
sections, stations, dispatch points, and depots for locomotive and
wagon operations.
"Continuous control is maintained to regulate the movement of
freight trains according to schedule. To ensure safe, timely, and
effective cargo transportation, as well as compliance with
regulations for freight train operations, additional technical
training is being provided for staff. Fundamental inspections of
infrastructure are being carried out, along with preventive
measures to ensure the uninterrupted flow of cargo and passenger
transport," he stated.
In addition, green belts have been established near railway
lines as part of landscaping efforts.
Preparatory work has also been conducted at the railway museum,
where multilingual guides have been engaged. Foreign guests will
have access to information about sixty exhibits via QR codes. The
museum's interior has been updated, featuring a 'Time Train'
corner, and a new cinema hall where documentary films about the
history of railways can be viewed in several languages. The 'Time
Train' exhibit, modeled after the 'Ammendorf' train, offers
visitors a chance to embark on a virtual journey," Farajov
added.
