Tajikistan's Sughd Sees Industrial Production Surge In 9M2024

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 21. The
industrial production in the Sughd region of Tajikistan reached
20.360 billion somoni (approximately $1.9 billion) from January
through September 2024, Trend reports.
The regional administration noted that figure rose by 13.5
percent compared to the same period last year. In preparation for
the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence (September 9,
2026), the region plans to launch 140 new industrial enterprises
and workshops this year, creating 2,800 new jobs.
Moreover, ten garment enterprises were established in the cities
and districts of the region from January through September 2024,
generating 996 new jobs, along with two shoe production facilities
that created 66 jobs.
In the first half of 2024, total industrial production in
Tajikistan amounted to 22.6 billion somoni ($2.1 billion), with a
growth rate exceeding 11 percent.
