DPRK Sending 12,000 Troops To Russia For War Against Ukraine - South Korean Intelligence


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) South Korea's National Intelligence Service said Friday that the North Korean Regime has decided to send 12,000 soldiers to Russia to engage in the war against Ukraine.

That's according to Yonhap , Ukrinform reports.

Intelligence assesses there are four brigades of up to 12,000 soldiers, including special operations forces. The agency added that their deployment had already begun.

Meanwhile, Reuters notes that on Friday, South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol held an emergency meeting with officials from the country's defense, security and intelligence sector.

"The participants ... shared the view that the current situation where Russia and North Korea's closer ties have gone beyond the movement of military supplies to actual dispatch of troops is a grave security threat not only to our country but to the international community," the president's press service.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, the head of Ukraine's HUR defense intelligence, Kyrylo Budanov , said that currently about 11,000 soldiers from North Korea are training in Russia's east to start fighting against Ukraine as early as November.
