Azerbaijan, Italy Negotiate Green Energy Corridor Accession Prospects

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Italian Environment and Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin discussed the prospects of joining Italy and Serbia in the project of the“Caspian-Black Sea-Europe” green energy corridor, Trend reports via Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry.

The Azerbaijani-Italian consultations took place on the margins of the G20 (G20 countries) ministerial forum in Brazil.

“The Italian company CESI is involved in the feasibility study of this project. At the meeting with the Italian minister, the current state of the processes of the Green Energy Corridor project, the upcoming inclusion of Bulgaria in the feasibility study, as well as the prospects of joining Italy and Serbia in this project were discussed,” the information notes.

To note, the project of the green corridor is supported by the EU; during COP29 in Baku, its primary feasibility study will be presented.

The project is about the prospects of exporting green energy to the EU from future wind farms of Azerbaijan on the Caspian shelf through Georgia, the Black Sea, Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria.

The export volume is planned to be 4 GW.
