Uzbekistan Holds Signing Ceremony Of Ethical Rules For Election Campaigning

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 21. The heads
of Political parties have signed a ceremony of signing ethical
rules for election campaigning developed jointly with the Central
Election Commission (CEC) of Uzbekistan, Trend
reports via Uzbekistan's CEC.
These ethical rules have been developed to prevent the
dissemination of false information during the election campaign, to
ensure compliance with the basic principles of election, and to
provide voters with an opportunity to make their own choices.
Following the decision of the Central Election Commission of
July 2, 2024, the regulations on the conduct of election
campaigning for the first time during the election campaign of
candidates for deputy and political parties were supplemented with
norms on the preparation and dissemination of campaign materials
using artificial intelligence technologies.
According to the ethical rules, representatives of political
parties undertake such obligations as strict compliance in the
process of election campaigning with the requirements of the
Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Electoral Code, and
other legislative acts; respect for privacy, honor, dignity, and
reputation of representatives of political parties; non-disclosure
of any information contrary to public morality; not to engage in
extortion, intimidation, or coercion; not to use other improper
measures of influence; and not to use any other inappropriate
measures to protect the rights of political parties.
To note, the decision of the Central Election Commission of
Uzbekistan stipulates that the pre-election campaigning of
candidates for deputies and political parties starts on September
22, 2024.
Election for deputies of regional, city, and district councils,
as well as members of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis
(Parliament) of Uzbekistan, is scheduled for October 27.
The Movement of Entrepreneurs and Business People - Liberal
Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, the Democratic Party of National
Revival, the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan, the People's
Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, and the Adolat Social Democratic
Party of Uzbekistan will take part in the election.
