Central Asia-Germany Collaboration To Improve Regional Situation - Turkmen President


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 17. Cooperation between Central Asia and Germany can better the situation in the region and surrounding areas, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the Central Asia – Germany summit in Astana today, Trend reports via the official Turkmen media.

"In the current conditions, closer policy and diplomatic interaction between the countries of Central Asia and Germany can have a noticeable constructive impact on the general situation in the region and in the adjacent zones," he explained.

Berdimuhamedov highlighted the importance of international cooperation for ensuring peace and stability in the region.

"We should engage the efforts of the global community, primarily through the UN. We are guided by the shared vision of our countries' leadership to see Central Asia as a peaceful, calm, economically attractive region, a space of stability and predictability. For Turkmenistan, as a neutral and peace-loving state, this approach holds fundamental importance," added the head of state.

To note, the second Central Asia - Germany (5+1) summit is taking place in Astana with the participation of the Turkmen president. The summit continues the trend of developing strategic partnerships that began with the first meeting in Berlin in September 2023. Turkmenistan demonstrates its commitment to constructive international dialogue, reaffirming its role in expanding multilateral cooperation. The summit is also attended by Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz and the heads of state of Central Asia.
