Baku Hails US Efforts To Promote Progress In Azerbaijani-Armenian Normalization - Official

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 30. Baku welcomes US efforts to promote further progress in Azerbaijani-Armenian normalization, the Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Special Assignments Elchin Amirbayov said at an online seminar at the Hudson Institute in Washington, Trend reports.

“The US has always played an important role in promoting stability and good neighborly relations in the broader Caspian region, including the South Caucasus. We have always appreciated the unwavering US support for Azerbaijan's Political independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. We have cooperated very actively in several areas for more than three decades,” he said.

Amirbayov recalled that Azerbaijan and the US have a long and very productive cooperation in the field of energy.

“We are also solving major regional and international security problems together. Azerbaijani soldiers fought shoulder to shoulder with Americans in such flashpoints as Afghanistan, and Iraq, and we were the last to leave Kabul airport. So we have shown over the decades that we are and can be considered reliable partners with the United States. So it is in the interest of the United States, which also has good relations with Armenia, that these two countries in the seemingly remote geographic region of the South Caucasus finally overcome their conflict and usher in a new era of prosperity, stability, and development in that region. We welcome the efforts of the US to facilitate further progress,” he added.
