Economic Survey 2023-24 To Be Presented Today Ahead Of Budget

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Jul 22 (KNN) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey 2023-24 to Parliament today, one day before the scheduled Budget presentation on July 23.

The document is scheduled to be tabled in the Lok Sabha at 1 pm and in the Rajya Sabha at 2 pm.

The Economic Survey, an annual pre-budget document, provides a comprehensive overview of the nation's economic status, challenges, and outlook.

Prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs under the supervision of the Chief Economic Adviser, the survey offers valuable insights into various economic indicators and sectoral performances.

The survey is divided into two parts. The first part presents an analysis of current economic developments and challenges, including an overall economic review.

The second part focuses on the past financial year's economic performance. This structure allows for a thorough examination of both present conditions and recent trends.

The practice of presenting an Economic Survey began in 1950-51. Initially presented alongside the Budget until 1964, the survey has evolved over time.

For most of its history, it was a single-volume document covering key economic sectors and policy areas.

However, from 2010-11 to 2020-21, it expanded to two volumes, with the additional volume reflecting the Chief Economic Adviser's intellectual contributions to major economic issues and debates.

As a crucial pre-budget document, the Economic Survey serves as a vital tool for policymakers, economists, and the public to understand the state of the national economy.

It provides a foundation for informed discussions on economic policies and helps set expectations for the upcoming budget.

The presentation of the Economic Survey 2023-24 marks the beginning of the budget season, with all eyes now turning to the full budget presentation scheduled for tomorrow.
