Amman, July 18 (Petra) - Northern Military Region foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotic substances carried by a projectile loaded with Captagon quantities coming from Syrian territory.
In a statement Thursday, an official military source in the General Command of the Jordan armed forces (JAF)- Arab army said: "The border guard forces in the Northern Military Zone detected an attempt of a projectile to illegally cross the border from Syrian territory to Jordan," adding that rules of engagement were applied and the flying object was shot down inside Jordanian soil.
The source indicated that the projectile carried 4 bags of narcotic substances containing 3,990 Captagon pills, and the seized items were transferred to the competent authorities.
On future action, the source affirmed that the JAF will continue to deal "firmly and decisively" with any threat on Jordan's border fronts and any efforts intended to undermine and destabilize the Kingdom's security and intimidate its citizens.
