Amman, July 17 (Petra) - President of the Senate Faisal Fayez on Wednesday met separately with Greek Ambassador Irene Riga and Cypriot Ambassador Michalis Ioannou to discuss the current regional situation and ways to strengthen relations between Jordan and both Greece and Cyprus in various fields.
Fayez highlighted the importance of enhancing relations with the two countries, emphasizing the need to develop and build on these ties, especially in the economic, investment, and parliamentary fields, to serve common interests.
He outlined Jordan's comprehensive reform process, driven by the visions and aspirations of His Majesty King Abdullah II. The reforms aim to enhance popular participation, establish parliamentary governments, empower women and youth, overcome economic challenges, and improve the investment environment.
Regarding the situation in the region and the Israeli aggression against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, Fayez underscored His Majesty's efforts to end this aggression and stop Israel's policies of starvation, ethnic cleansing, and systematic killing. He called for opening all crossings into Gaza and lifting the siege to allow sufficient humanitarian and medical aid to reach those in need.
Fayez urged the international community to support His Majesty's efforts to end regional conflicts, halt Israeli aggression, and find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on international resolutions and the two-state solution. He stressed that peace in the region and the world is unattainable while Israeli aggression against Palestinians continues.
The Greek and Cypriot ambassadors praised His Majesty's significant role in establishing regional security and stability and in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.
They also commended Jordan's efforts in supporting Syrian refugees and emphasized the importance of their strong partnership with Jordan in enhancing regional security and stability.
