Updates on Ukraine conflict

(MENAFN) In the past week, the Russia-Ukraine conflict has witnessed intensified combat across multiple fronts, with significant developments reported by Moscow, including new territorial gains in the Donbass region. On Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the capture of Chigari, a small settlement located just northwest of Gorlovka in the Donetsk People's Republic. This area, heavily damaged over years of conflict, had served as a base for Ukrainian forces launching artillery and missile strikes against Gorlovka.

Fighting remains active in New York (also known as Novgorodskoye), situated to the west of Gorlovka. Reports indicate that Russian troops have successfully breached Ukrainian defenses in the area, advancing from the south and gaining partial control of the village.

The Avdeevka front continues to be one of the most active battle zones, with Russian forces pushing westward following the liberation of a key town in mid-February. Over the last week, Russian troops have expanded their control around Ocheretino, previously a vital logistics hub for Ukrainian operations.

As the conflict persists, both sides remain engaged in fierce combat, with the situation evolving rapidly along the front lines. The ongoing struggle highlights the significant challenges faced by Ukrainian forces as they contend with advancing Russian troops and the strategic importance of contested territories in the region.
