Aqaba, July 14 (Petra) - Chairperson of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and the Aqaba Development Corporation, Nayef Fayez, engaged in discussions with Frederik Rutgers, General Manager of the Aqaba
port Marine Services Company. The discussions focused on the cooperation mechanism and workflow in the towing and pilotage services for ships arriving at Aqaba ports.
Fayez emphasized that maritime services are pivotal in enhancing the port system,
transportation chains, and sustainable supply. This aligns with the Aqaba Authority's vision of establishing Aqaba as a leading regional and global center for logistics, transport, and trade.
Rutgers provided a detailed presentation on the company's history, development stages, and its towing and pilotage operations. He highlighted that the company offers advanced maritime services to vessels at Aqaba ports, maintaining excellence and safety in harmony with shipping lines and port authorities in the Gulf of Aqaba.
He noted the significant improvement in services provided to ships at Aqaba, contributing to the port's competitiveness on a global scale. The company focuses on professional towing and pilotage operations, meeting international standards of innovation and flexibility.
Rutgers said that the Aqaba Port Marine Services fleet is well-prepared to handle various large and sensitive ships, ensuring safety at the docks. The company boasts modern equipment and highly trained personnel from international maritime academies, including the Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies, to maintain quality and safety.
CEO of the Aqaba Development Corporation, Hussein Safadi, praised the company's efforts and their significant achievements, particularly in port services, which are vital for commercial exchange operations. He highlighted the company's reputation for providing maritime services with high safety and environmental standards.

The Aqaba Port Marine Services Company was established as a private joint stock company through a joint development agreement between the Aqaba Development Corporation and a consortium (Smit Lamnalco Limited/Jordan National Shipping Lines). The joint company is tasked with rehabilitating, developing, managing, and operating marine services at the port of Aqaba.
