Cabinet Issues New Decisions

Amman, July 14 (Petra) - A Cabinet session held Sunday, headed by Prime Minister Dr. Bishr Khasawneh, decided to approve the mandating reasons for a draft amended bylaw of Zakat Fund's Administrative Structure for the year 2024 and referred it to the Bureau of Legislation and Opinion to proceed with the procedures for approving it, in accordance with rules in force.
The system project aims to keep pace with developments in the fund's operations and address some existing administrative imbalances.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers decided to approve the validating reasons for the draft amended bylaw for Yarmouk University's Investment Fund for the year 2024, aimed to align it with modern laws and legislation regulating work of public universities.
On another level, the Council reviewed the periodic report of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply on the procedures and measures taken to reduce hike in commodity prices and ensure abundance of the "strategic" stock of basic materials.
Addressing the session, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yousef Shamali, said prices in the markets are "stable" and goods are "available" in "safe" quantities.
During the past week, he said the markets witnessed a decline in the prices of 42 commodities, and stability of 42 others, while only 6 items rose out of 90 basic commodities whose average prices are monitored.
The minister also affirmed the inspection teams are continuing their efforts to monitor local markets, pointing out that 5,449 visits to commercial establishments were conducted since mid-June, which led to issuing 237 violation tickets.
