Baghdad: Iraq announced on Thursday its decision to begin using Artificial Intelligence (AI) in school curricula.

Raghad Al Shabandar, responsible for Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in the Iraqi Prime Ministers Office, said in a press statement that the goal of this decision is to build a knowledge-based Economy on human capital.

She considered that the main factors for building the knowledge-based economy are education, innovation and research, stressing the necessity of preparing a young generation that possesses the skills of the Fourth Industrial Revolution to be able to work in international companies.

She pointed out that the government has worked on several projects, including smart management of water resources and maintaining water security using Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques to build smart systems around both ends of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, which contribute to solving the problem of water pollution and scarcity.
