Planning Minister, AFESD Head Talk Jordan's Development Priorities, Projects
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, July 2 (Petra) - Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, on Tuesday discussed with Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), Bader Muhammad Al-Saad, and the accompanying delegation, a number of development priorities for the Jordanian government.
This effort comes within the executive program of the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV), and the Kingdom's prioritized projects in the next phase, especially the water, health, energy, transportation and education sectors.
According to a ministry statement, Toukan stressed the importance of the current "constructive" joint development cooperation, adding that the visit aims to update the Jordanian government of the AFESD's "new" strategy.
Toukan indicated that this strategy seeks to develop a "strategic" framework with member states regarding their development needs, and identify future sectors and projects that can be funded within a "programmed" framework and approach, based on the target countries' development plans and priorities.
The fund decided to make Jordan the first country to work with based on the new strategy, which would contribute to mobilize support for implementing the Kingdom's priority development projects and expand access to financing for the country's private sector, the statement said.
The fund, which is a development partner of the Jordanian government, has contributed to financing 51 projects in the Kingdom during the period 1975-2023, especially in the fields of health, education, social development, water and sanitation, and productive programs.
