Morocco nears completion of expressway connecting it with Mauritania
(MENAFN) Morocco is nearing completion of the expressway connecting Tiznit and Dakhla, spanning 1,055 kilometers and costing over 9 billion dirhams ($997 million). This infrastructure aims to enhance connectivity between African and European markets, marking a significant improvement in the speed of transporting passengers and goods.
Badr Al-Zaher Al-Azraq, a researcher and expert in business and economic law, stated that Morocco's decision to create a highway linking Tiznit and Dakhla will transform the economic landscape, connecting the country's key economic hubs. He told a news agency that this new road will solidify Morocco's role as a trade mediator between Europe and West Africa, fostering significant economic activity due to the road's high quality and accessibility towards Europe.
Al-Azraq explained that completing the road from Dakhla to Guerguerat, a border crossing linking Morocco and Mauritania, will promote unprecedented trade flows in both directions and reduce goods delivery times. He emphasized that this infrastructure will positively impact the region and its residents, playing a crucial role in connecting West Africa and Europe. The anticipated increase in trade volume will strengthen economic ties between Morocco and West African countries.
Al-Azraq further stressed that Morocco aims to closely align its economic future with West Africa, establishing itself as a key economic intermediary between northern and southern countries. Additionally, he highlighted that linking the major economic hubs within Morocco will drive investment flows towards the southern regions, acting as a catalyst for new infrastructure and major projects, ultimately transforming the economy of this vast area.
