MANAMA, June 30 (KUNA) -- As Bahrain strategic plans to boost the tourism sector further in the Kingdom, the Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB), established in 2022, came as a "key player" to achieve this coveted goal.
Speaking to KUNA on this issue, CEO of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) Sara Buhiji affirmed that the establishment of the EWB was in line with the top Bahraini authorities' ambitions to boost tourism and bring on more business to the country.
Several projects are on the assembly line so to speak, revealed Buhiji, noting that the EWB was one of the major ones.
She affirmed that the EWB played an integral role in scouting for talents that helped realize the tourism vision of the Kingdom.
Buhiji indicated that despite being relatively new, the EWB managed in 2023 to host 186 events with 62.5 percent of the functions being internationally oriented. Some 800,000 visitors from across the globe partook in the event so far.
She indicated that exhibitors from the State of Kuwait have been on the rise since the inception of the EWB, noting that the facility had hosted various tourism functions since it was established.
The EWB had gained global recognition, winning several awards from international organizations and entities, she affirmed.
The EWB is a unique architectural marvel taking inspiration from the history of Bahrain. The EWB consists of 10 exhibition halls spread across 95,000 square with some having a ceiling height of 10, 11, and 14 meters. It has library and several other facilities
As for the BTEA, Buhiji indicated that it targeted five markets including the GCC, China, India, the UK, and Germany.
In regards to the GCC, she affirmed that the BTEA would continue to find venues of cooperation with Gulf entities to benefit all countries in the region. (end)
