Iran’s transportation sector under leadership of Raisi increases by 89 percent
(MENAFN) Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, recently highlighted remarkable achievements in the country's transportation sector under the leadership of the late President Ebrahim Raisi. Bazrpash reported an impressive 89 percent increase in the transit of goods via rail compared to the previous administration, showcasing substantial progress in Iran's rail infrastructure and logistical capabilities.
During Raisi's tenure, Iran forged impactful agreements with neighboring and regional countries, significantly boosting the volume of goods transported via road from 9.3 million tons to 14.7 million tons in the past year alone. Looking ahead, Bazrpash expressed optimism that this figure could surpass 20 million tons by the end of the current Iranian calendar year, which concludes on March 20, 2025. This anticipated growth underscores Iran's expanding role as a pivotal hub for regional trade and transit.
Beyond transportation, Bazrpash elaborated on two major national projects: “Iran Rah” and “Housing of People.” These initiatives aim to revitalize Iran's infrastructure and address housing needs across the country. The “Iran Rah” project focuses on enhancing road networks and connectivity, thereby facilitating smoother transportation of goods and passengers. Meanwhile, the “Housing of People” initiative seeks to improve living conditions by promoting affordable housing solutions and urban development.
These efforts are integral to Iran's broader economic strategy, emphasizing sustainable growth and development across key sectors. Bazrpash's remarks underscore the administration's commitment to advancing national priorities through strategic investments in infrastructure, transit, and housing, ultimately contributing to Iran's socio-economic advancement under President Ebrahim Raisi's leadership.
