Pakistan Mango Festival Al Hamba To Begin Tomorrow At Souq Waqif

Doha, Qatar: With the participation of 100 outlets, the First Al Hamba Mango and Mango Products Festival for Pakistani mangos will begin on June 27 at Souq Waqif offering the rich and varieties, and diverse flavors of Pakistani mangoes.

The 10-day festival will be organised by the Celebrations Committee of the Private Engineering Office in cooperation with the Embassy of Pakistan from June 27 until July 6, 2024 from 4pm to 9pm daily.

General Supervisor of the festival Khalid Saif Al Suwaidi, in a statement, said that the festival will showcase some new types of Pakistani mangoes that are distinguished by their quality and taste, and which are presented in the Qatari markets for the first time.

He noted that a direct import line has been allocated from all Pakistani cities famous for mango production to Qatar specifically for this festival, noting that all shipments will be by air, and large and varied quantities will be offered.

Al Suwaidi added that there are Qatari companies participating in the exhibition, but most of the companies in this edition are coming from Pakistan, unlike Indian mango, in which most of the companies were local. He said that dozens of varieties of mango and mango products like juices, sweets and pickles will be displayed.

Al Suwaidi added that an air-conditioned tent, located in the eastern square of Souq Waqif will host the festival to the comfort of participants and visitors. He said that there are some proposals to hold mango festival for other countries famous for growing this fruit which will be considered.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Embassy in a statement said that this highly anticipated event will showcase the rich and varieties, and diverse flavours of Pakistani mangoes. Over 43 companies will participate, presenting around 100 outlets, offering a feast for Qatar's residents.

Visitors to the Al Hamba Festival will have the opportunity to savor a variety of the finest Pakistani mangoes, including popular varieties such as Sidhri, Chaunsa, Safeed Chaunsa, Anwar Ratool, and Duseri among many more.

In addition to mangoes, the festival will also feature seasonal fruits like falsa, jamun, and peaches, adding a touch of summer sweetness to the festivities.

Pakistani cuisine will be a highlight of the festival, with an array of traditional dishes and modern interpretations available for tasting. Local restaurants and cafés will participate, offering a diverse menu that celebrates the culinary heritage of Pakistan.

The festival will host a variety of exhibitors, including importers, retailers, and exporters. Companies from Pakistan will showcase processed foods and dry mangoes, highlighting the diverse range of mango-based products available. Notable participants include Zuhair Impex, Akin Foods, Kashan Trader's, Friday Fresh Pvt Ltd, Naurus Pvt Ltd, Pak Khyber Traders, Aaj Enterprises, Al Hamad Agro Chemicals, and Swat International Trading Company. Major retail stores participating include Al Baladi Hypermarket, Marza Hypermarket, Sunder Mart, and Al Hemaliya Trading.

A unique display from Desert Green Qatar, a nursery showcasing the best in agricultural practices and innovations, will be featured. Additionally, the event will highlight Pakistani handicrafts courtesy of Swat International Trading Company. The Al Hamba Festival promises to be a memorable event for families and food enthusiasts, offering a rich tapestry of flavors and cultural experiences.

The Al Hamba Festival celebrates the rich agricultural heritage and culinary traditions of Pakistan. Held in Doha, Qatar, the festival aims to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between the two nations through the universal language of food.
