Intensive Efforts Underway To Attract Qatari Imams, Orators: Awqaf Minister
Doha, Qatar: Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim has affirmed that the Ministry is intensifying efforts to attract more Qatari Imams and orators, in implementation of the directives of the wise leadership, in pursuit of achieving the Ministry's strategy in supplying the Mosques nationwide with Qatari Imams.
The Minister was addressing the Ministry's Qatari Imams and orators at Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in Doha. And he underscored the wise leadership's interest in Qatari Imams and orators, along with the unwavering support to catalyze the Qatari youth to serve the Mosques, lead the worshippers and communicate the supreme message of the Prophets.
His Excellency added that this message largely helps promote tight-knit societies by correctly communicating the message to their members through lessons and guidance and replicating the good models of science and mercy for those who live in Qatar and the entire world, utilizing Mosque pulpits, Dawah squares, social media platforms and reliable Islamic websites that primarily advocate for moderate approach based on a balanced religious rhetoric.
During the meeting, Director of the Mosques Department at the Ministry Suleiman Jumaan Al Qahtani highlighted that as part of the Ministry's steadfast efforts to draw Qatari people to work as Imams and orators, the Ministry updated new categories for Qatari Imams last month through a multi-category rewarding system for them. They would assume this position and simultaneously maintain their main jobs in the state institutions both government and private enterprises.
Al Qahtani added that the Ministry has been eager to meet with the Qatari Imams currently working at the Ministry so as to brief them on these new categories and encourage them to preserve their basic jobs, in addition to promoting the highest categories to receive a multitude of privileges.
He pointed out that the Ministry determined three categories for the Qatari Imams, as per functions, such as QR10,000 monthly reward for category“A” Imams, QR7,000 for category 'B' and QR5,000 for category 'C'.
Regarding the orators, each one will receive varying degrees of rewards depending on their performance level at the Mosques nationwide, such as QR1000 for category A, with a total amount of QR4,000 to QR5,000 monthly per sermon, and QR500 for 'B' category with a total amount of QR2,000 to QR2,500 monthly, he outlined.
Additionally, Al Qahtani affirmed that the Ministry has streamlined many categories for this job to ensure flexibility for those who wish to join this position, in addition to drawing a substantial number of Qatari Imams and orators.
