New Caledonian Riots Prove Failure Of French Neo-Colonial Policy - La Gazette Du Caucase

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16. The riots in NewCaledonia prove the failure of the French neo-colonial policy,an article published by Paris-basedLa Gazette du Caucase online newspaper reads, Trend reports.

The material's authors highlight that the peoples of Africa andAsia, suffering from French neo-colonialism, have found substantialsupport from Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan, which was then the Non-Aligned Movement's chair, founded the Baku Initiative Group in July 2023 to eradicatecolonialism entirely. This group is dedicated to backing peoplesadvocating for autonomy or independence from their sovereign stateand advocating for their inclusion on the UN's list of territoriesto be decolonized, which already includes French Polynesia and NewCaledonia. France, possessing the largest number of territoriesoutside its mainland, naturally stands at the forefront of thisinitiative," the article underscores.

Additionally, the authors point out France's considerabledispleasure with the growing closeness between the peoples of itsformer colonies and Baku. They note France's past active supportfor Armenian separatists in Karabakh, a stance contradicting fourUN resolutions signed by France itself.

"When one hand is unaware of the other's actions... This supportnow holds little relevance against the backdrop of agreementsbrokered between Azerbaijan and Armenia without Frenchinvolvement.

Control over energy resources has historically empowered Europe, the required resources for new industries now lie beyondthe West: in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Colonized by theWest, the peoples of these regions are undergoing a process ofliberation. While the West may harbor nostalgia for its formerdominance, a new world is emerging where these peoples refuse to beviewed as subjects of a declining West. Unintentionally, the Westhastens its decline by failing to cultivate these peoples as alliesand equal partners, thereby fostering adversaries in an unwinnableeconomic, cultural, and military conflict. This approach, riddledwith discriminatory and sometimes genocidal policies, onlyaccelerates the West's demise from within. France is lagging behindthe tide of history-a lamentable fate for the nation," the articleconcludes.
