(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 4. Azerbaijani ForeignMinister Jeyhun Bayramov, within the framework of a working visitto Gambia, has met on May 4 with Deputy Prime Minister of theFederal Republic of Somalia Salah Ahmed Jama, Trend reports citing theAzerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

At the meeting, the parties expressed satisfaction with thecurrent level of cooperation within the framework of internationalorganizations, in particular the UN, the Non-Aligned Movement andthe Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The importance ofcontinuing mutual support provided to candidates and initiativeswithin international organizations was emphasized.

During the meeting, the minister brought to the attention of theopposite side that Azerbaijan, during its chairmanship of theNon-Aligned Movement, made every effort to develop ties withAfrican countries and promote their interests on internationalplatforms.

The parties noted the broad potential for the development ofbilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as partnershipsin the field of alternative energy and the humanitarian andeducational sphere. Approval was expressed for the participation ofSomali students in the scholarship program established byAzerbaijan for the countries of the Organization of IslamicCooperation.

In addition, it was emphasized that the 29th session of theConference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on ClimateChange (COP29), which our country will host this year, will createfavorable opportunities for cooperation.

The meeting also discussed other bilateral and regional issuesof mutual interest.
