CEO Of BISTP Shares Measures To Further Benefit From Port's Potential


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. Taleh Ziyadov, thehead of Baku International Sea Trade Port (BISTP), spoke withEuronews about the port's accomplishments and future goals,Trend reports.

According to him, BISTP is the only green port on the CaspianSea, capable of processing up to 15 million tons of cargo per year,benefits from a prime geographical location in the heart of CentralEurasia, and contributes significantly to the region's economicdevelopment.

“The port has a demonstrated desire to adapt, grow, and satisfyrising global trade demands. Last year, the total transshipmentvolume at BISTP topped 7.3 million tons (51 percent growth in threeyears), cargo handling speed has increased, and there are prospectsto boost cargo flow,” Ziyadov stressed.

The port, located in Alat, has 13 berths, including Ro-Ro, aferry terminal.

A terminal for fertilizer transit and warehouses capable ofstoring 60,000 tons of various fertilizers have also beenbuilt.

BISCP Executive Director Eugene Seah, in a conversation withEuronews journalists, noted that technology development,digitalization, and automation are high on the port's developmentagenda.

BISTP is also implementing environmental sustainability measuresto reduce its impact on the environment and ecosystem.

The port's capacity will gradually be expanded to 25 milliontons of cargo per year, taking into account moderntechnologies.
