UAE Welcomes Agreement Between Azerbaijan, Armenia

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 22. The UAE haswelcomed the agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding thedelimitation and demarcation of land borders in the area of fourvillages, Trend reports via the UAE Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry highlighted that the UAE is closely following theprocess of building mutual confidence and bolstering the peacebetween Azerbaijan and Armenia.
The ministry expressed hope that this significant step willstrengthen bridges of communication and dialogue and contribute tofostering stability and constructive cooperation in the Caucasusregion.
Referring to the UAE Minister of State Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, theministry emphasized that this positive development, establishedthrough direct communications, represents an important step towardsa comprehensive peace agreement that contributes to development andpeace on both regional and international levels, which wouldbenefit both countries and their peoples and fulfill their mutualinterests while achieving further prosperity and growth.
According to the ministry, the UAE holds close and distinguishedties with both Azerbaijan and Armenia and underscores the country'scommitment to reinforce peace and stability in the region, whileemphasizing the importance of building bridges and fosteringcooperation and dialogue to resolve differences by peacefulmeans.
To note, the eighth meeting of the State Commission on StateBorder Delimitation between Azerbaijan and Armenia and theCommission on State Border Delimitation and Border Security betweenArmenia and Azerbaijan was held on April 19, 2024.
At the initial stage of the delimitation process, the sidestentatively agreed on the passage of certain segments of the borderline directly between the settlements of Baganis (RA) – BaganysAyrim (AR), Voskepar (RA) – Ashagy Askipara (AR), Kirants (RA) –Kheyrimli (AR), and Berkaber (RA) - Gyzylhajily (AR) to bring themin line with the legally justified inter-republican border thatexisted within the Soviet Union at the time of its collapse.
