Bulgaria Pledges Continued Support For Moldova's Energy Security
Deputy Minister of Energy, Iva Petrova, reiterated Bulgaria'sdedication to this cause during the ninth meeting of theIntergovernmental Bulgarian-Moldovan Commission for EconomicCooperation.
The meeting, convened on March 26, 2024, in Chisinau, Moldova,was chaired by Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry,Irina Stonova, alongside Moldova's Minister of Energy, VictorParlikov.
During the proceedings, Deputy Minister Petrova engaged inbilateral discussions with Minister Parlikov, focusing on mutualconcerns in the energy sector. Both nations expressed theircommitment to advancing the Vertical Gas Corridor initiative, anendeavor aimed at enhancing supply security anddiversification.
The Vertical Gas Corridor project, a collaborative effortinvolving gas transmission operators from Bulgaria, Greece,Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, and Moldova, seeks tofacilitate the transfer of natural gas from southern to northernEurope, thereby fortifying regional energy resilience.
Crucially, the inclusion of Moldova's gas transmission operatorin this initiative is perceived as pivotal to its success, offeringprospects for synergies with European agendas prioritizing robustand dependable gas supply.
Moreover, within the context of the IntergovernmentalBulgarian-Moldovan Commission meeting, both countries resolved toexplore avenues for cooperation in various energy domains. Theseinclude endeavors related to energy efficiency, modernization, anddigitalization of electricity networks, as well as the promotion ofrenewable energy sources and energy storage solutions.
