Narcotics Worth Rs 15 Cr Seized In Assam, Two Arrested
(MENAFN- IANS) Guwahati, Nov 28 (IANS) Two persons were arrested and narcotics worth Rs 15 crore was seized from their possession in Assam, police said on Tuesday.
"On Monday night, a four-wheeler car coming from Manipur was intercepted at Saraighat bridge but the peddlers fled towards Changsari. They were chased and shots were fired at them," a senior police officer said.
The two arrested drug peddlers were identified as Sonu Ali and Arjun Basfore. The vehicle they were using was searched thoroughly and narcotics were found in the hidden chamber.
"We recovered 1.80 kg of heroin from the vehicle. The market value of seized drugs must be around Rs 15 crore," the official added.
A case under the relevant sections of IPC was registered.
