(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Canada has introduced a new temporary migration program that allows Ukrainians who are close relatives to Canadian nationals to obtain a permanent residence permit.
Details of the program have been published on the website of the Ministry of Immigration, Ukrinform reports.
It is noted that Ukrainians may apply for the program starting October 23.
Citizens of Ukraine whose close relatives have Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status will be eligible. According to the program, the circle of close relatives includes children, parents, grandparents, spouses, as well as brothers and sisters.

The program also allows citizens of third countries to submit an application if their spouse has Ukrainian citizenship, but cannot leave Ukraine or has died or gone missing.
Currently, there is no information on how long the applications will be processed and how much the submission will cost.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, after Russia invaded Ukraine, Canada announced a temporary migration program that allowed Ukrainian refugees to obtain a three-year work and residence permit in Canada for free. Although more than a million applications were submitted for the program, only about 170,000 Ukrainians eventually arrived in Canada this way. In July 2023, the receipt of new applications for the program was suspended, but the government has promised to soon release details of a new program that would allow Ukrainians to move to Canada on a permanent, rather than temporary, basis.
