G20 Culture Ministers Pledge Addressing Development Challenges


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NEW DELHI, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- G20 Ministers of Culture on Saturday pledged to use transformative power of culture to address varidevelopment challenges.
The Indian Ministry of Culture said in a statement that the G20 Culture Minister's meeting held in Varanasi city of north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh agreed to use the power of culture to face climate change, rising inequalities and impact of the digital transformation. They also agreed that there is a need to shape more inclusive societies that will fully respect and recognize the diversity and equal dignity of all cultures.
At the conclusion, they adopted the Outcome Document named 'Kashi Culture Pathway', which combines commitments and consenof the G20 Culture Ministers. The meeting also launched a report 'G20 Culture: Shaping the Global Narrative for Inclusive Growth'. A special edition stamp was also launched to commemorate 'Culture Unites All' campaign, which is an initiative under India's G20 Presidency underlining strong belief in multilateralism for inclusive growth.
In his message to the gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: "I am confident that your efforts will foster sustainable practice and lifestyle. We believe that heritage is a vital asset for economic growth and diversification that is in accord with our mantra 'with development as well as heritage'."
Indian Minister for Culture and Tourism Kishan Reddy said that India tried to capture the spirit of collective vision and commitment to progress together. The event was held under India's G20 Presidency. (end)
