Chinese Media Outlets Look Forward To Cooperating With Egypt's Counterparts


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Beijing – Shan Cheng Biao, general manager of China's Global Times (huanqiu.com), has said that Egypt and China enjoy good relations in many fields such as trade, politics, culture, and others, especially because of their association within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative.

He added in a meeting with a delegation of Egyptian journalists and Egypt's State Information Service in Beijing that bilateral relations between the two countries will witness further development, especially in light of celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, which links Cairo and Beijing with a strategic partnership that covers many fields.

Commenting on Egypt's news coverage on the Global Times website, Shan Cheng Biao said that the Chinese people are very interested in knowing tourist information about the country. Accordingly, Global Times follows up on Egyptian news websites and newspapers as well as their news is translated to be published though our platform. Moreover, Global Times allows influencers on social networking sites and other experts to share their experience of their tourist visit to Egypt.

The Global Times is partnering with several Chinese institutions such as the China Association of Public Diplomacy to organize a short video contest on the Belt and Road Initiative to show how close China is with those countries, he said. This competition opened the door in June and continues until September, with contestants from Egypt participating.

Regarding the cooperation with the Egyptian media, he said that this happens through the offices of Chinese newspapers in Cairo, such as the Chinese People's newspaper, and highlighted a cooperation with social media influencers.

Global Times website was launched in 2007 covering local and international news and is issued in 5 languages, so it is among the most cited sites by other international media. Moreover, its readers exceed 300 million people globally.

In another meeting between Egyptian journalists and their counterparts at Chinese state television in Beijing Ou Xiaolan presenter and deputy director of the Chinese-Arabic CGTN channel, said that there is long-term cooperation between China and Arab countries, led by Egypt, in the field of radio and television, and there is a growing desire to strengthen this cooperation in the future.

She added
that cooperation with Cairo includes several fields, including documentary films, and presented joint production of a series of documentary films under the name“Masks and Treasures” that will be shown later this year.

In this series of documentaries, Tutankhamun's mask and a golden mask belonging to the Sanxingdui culture will talk together, showing the charm of the two ancient civilizations across time and space, and their impact on the course of human culture, she elaborated.

Moreover, Cai Jingli, Deputy Director of CGTN Arabic Channel, said that CGTN, affiliated to CCTV, were officially established in 2018 to address the outside world, as it issues the range of channels in 5 different languages and employs about 50,000 employees in the channel's offices and studios in various countries of the world and the Arab world.

She explained that the channels have diverse news resources, and pointed out that the Arabic language department employs 200 persons besides employees from different countries.
