Doha, Qatar: Sultan Al Neyadi, an Emirati astronaut renowned for his impressive images of the Earth's significant sites from space, posted a magnificent photograph of Taal Volcano on his Instagram.
The image was taken from the International Space Station (ISS) accompanied by the Filipino greeting 'Kamusta Pilipinas!' which translates to 'How are you Philippines?'
Al Neyadi stated: "I captured this image of Taal Volcano, one of the world's smallest and Philippines' second most active volcano, from the ISS."
His striking photos often underscore the impressive geographical diversity of our planet.
"The deeper we look at Earth from space, the more we understand its unique geographical diversity," he added.
Taal Volcano is one of the most active in the Philippines, located within a large caldera filled by Taal Lake in the Batangas province.
The volcano, situated approximately 50 kilometers south of Manila, the Philippine capital, has been the epicenter of 38 recorded historical eruptions.
All of these eruptions occurred on Volcano Island, near the middle of Taal Lake.
This caldera was shaped by prehistoric eruptions that occurred between 140,000 and 5,380 years ago.
Despite its relatively small size, Taal Volcano's violent eruptions have had deadly outcomes.
Its eruptions have resulted in an estimated death toll of around 6,000 due to its proximity to densely populated areas.
Because of its eruptive history and proximity to inhabited areas, Taal Volcano is designated a Decade Volcano, meriting detailed study to prevent future natural disasters.
