Doha, Qatar: Renowned Red Bull athlete Jaan Roose set a record in Qatar for the world's longest LED slackline walk recently.

The Estonian slackliner took on the challenge and covered a distance of over 150-metres, on a 2.5cm wide LED Highline suspended more than 185 metres high on both ends of Raffles and Fairmont Doha, one of the country's architectural wonders.

"When I saw the iconic towers the first thought I had was, this is the building which I have to walk," commented Roose in a video documenting the challenge.

"The line i'm walking is different from all the other slacklines I've been walking so far because of the setup itself, the location, and the way it looks," the athlete said.

The athlete took on the challenge, known as 'Sparkline', in partnership with Qatar Tourism.

The breathtaking video of the challenge was shared by Red Bull Qatar and Visit Qatar on social media, showing Roose crossing the line amidst rough weather conditions high above the ground. The full video of the challenge is also available on Visit Qatar's YouTube channel.

In the clip, the athlete can also be seen performing various tricks such as balancing upside-down on a slackline and laying on his back midway through the challenge.

To date, this marks Roose's highest urban walk on a line that is just 2.5cm wide.

"Ah, that was a fight!" said Roose amidst whistles and cheers when he reached the other end of the line.

Jaan Roose is a three-time world champion and a holder of numerous world records. He is also best known for possessing nerves of steel for performing unique tricks such as being the first and only athlete to perform a double backflip on a slackline.

The Estonian started slacklining at the age of 18. Now, at 31, Roose has taken on multiple challenges and set world-firsts in the sport. In 2021 he visited the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina to perform acrobatics at a height of 100m, while the following year he tackled a 500m-long slackline between two mountains in Kazakhstan.

The sparkline walk took place as part of an action-packed calendar of global events in Qatar. With several key sporting events expected to take place in 2023, including Qatar Grand Prix MotoGP, AFC Asian Cup, Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2023, and Geneva International Motor Show Qatar, visitors can expect extraordinary sporting experiences in Qatar all year round.
