Receptionist of Florida doctor’s office steals USD44.000 from patients

(MENAFN) According to authorities, a receptionist at a Florida doctor's office was detained following allegedly taking over USD44,000 from hundreds of patients.

Angelina Mena, the front desk employee at MacDonald Family EyeCare in Winter Springs, Florida, near northeast Orlando, was the subject of an inquiry that began over a year ago on March 11, 2022, after the optometrist's office alerted the Winter Springs Police Department about a possible instance of fraud.

“According to the business, the receptionist Angelina Mena was allegedly illegally using patients’ credit card information to commit credit card fraud" stated the Winter Springs Police Department after Mena's arrest.

In the month-long investigation, Winter Springs police discovered that Mena used her own square account to take nearly USD44,000 from 76 patients who attended the family office.

After the 16-month police investigation was completed, officials were able to file charges with the State Attorney's Office, and an arrest warrant was issued for Mena.
