São Paulo – Brazilian singer Rhanna launched on Friday (7) the music video of her song 'Anarruanda' featuring footage filmed at the Khan El Khalili market in Cairo, Egypt. The place is a famous landmark in the city. The artist started her musical career in 2017 and has two original songs launched on audio platforms, 'Anarruanda' and 'Receios.' Both songs are sung in Portuguese and inspired by Arab sounds.

'anarruanda ' was produced by Arnaldo Saccomani and launched in 2019.“Now I'm overjoyed to present a music video I was privileged enough to record in Egypt, exploring areas like the Khan El Khalili and a café in tribute of Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, of whom I'm a huge fan,” said Rhanna.

The singer said she has a great love and admiration for the Arab culture, and she was in no hurry to make the music video because she wanted to film it in an Arab country, as the project explores sounds from the region. The pandemic led her filming plans to be delayed. She traveled to Egypt earlier this year and took the opportunity to capture some footage.

Besides the market, Rhanna visited the Gize pyramids, museums in the capital city, and other tourist attractions. She also visited Aswan, Luxor, rode a train, went on a cruise on the Nile River and visited a city in the Red Sea.“I think it's an opportunity to contribute to promote such beautiful places in a light, modern way, and remove its stigma as a closed country. I was highly respected and well-treated, and I had a very nice coexistence there,” she said. This was the first time Rhanna visited an Arab country.

The video was produced, recorded and edited by Rhanna. The footage was captured on her cellphone.“I had a tripod, a cellphone and a light. It was amateurish, something I had to improvise, a little on the fly. I could have filmed it here, with a staff, like I did with 'receios .' But filming it in Egypt was worth it, as I'm an independent artist,” she said.

Rhanna hopes the music video goes viral and sparks people's curiosity to pay homage to the Arab world and may encourage tourism in Egypt and other countries.

“The experience was amazing, the vibe in Cairo is extraordinary, ineffable. I'd love to live there. Something deep inside of me draws me to it, I can't explain. I was delighted, and I hope I'll come back soon,” she said.

Rhanna performs singing forró, MPB, and her original songs. She plans on launching new songs.
