Scholz clarifies why he refuses to give weapons to Ukraine

(MENAFN) German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has stated that Berlin is hesitant to offer wider-range ammunitions to Kiev out of worry over a probable escalation if Ukraine decided to utilize them to attack Russian region.

In an inclusive meeting with a news agency on Sunday, the chancellor was enquired as why Berlin declines to provide Kiev with wide-range cruise weaponries.

Scholz informed news agency`s moderator Tina Hassel that “we carefully check all the requests we receive. But for us there is a principle that I share with the US president – we do not want the weapons we supply to be used to attack Russian territories.”

Ukrainian Leader Vladimir Zelensky allegedly informed Scholz throughout their assembly in Berlin back in May that Kiev “urgently wants” Swedish-German Taurus KEPD 350 weaponries.

The air-launched missiles are armed with a 500kg warhead and can go a distance of 500KM (310 miles).
